Nestled in Manjapetty, Nedumkandam, in the Udumbanchola Taluk of Idukki District, Kerala, HIGHLAND Spices is deeply connected to the hills, plantations and farming traditions that have shaped our family’s journey for generations.
Our Story
Our family’s association with plantation cultivation dates back to 1960. Over the years, we have developed a deep appreciation for the land, the people who nurture it and the remarkable spices that grow in this part of the Western Ghats. What began as a relationship with the soil has grown into a lasting passion for sharing the natural richness of Idukki with others.
For us, spices have always meant more than flavour. They remind us of home, family kitchens, cherished recipes and the simple pleasure of a meal made with care. We understand the difference a good spice can make—not just to the aroma of a dish, but to the memories and experiences built around the table. There is something special about the highlands of Idukki. The rolling green hills, the changing seasons and the rich agricultural traditions create an environment in which spice cultivation has flourished for generations.
Growing up with a connection to this landscape has taught us to appreciate the individuality of every spice. We know that the character of cardamom is different from that of black pepper, that cloves have their own distinctive intensity and that mace possesses a delicate fragrance all its own.
